Annie Oakley
Oakley, Annie, the stage name of Phoebe Anne Oakley Mozee Butler (1860–1926), a United States entertainer noted for her marksmanship. She was featured for 17 years in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.
Oakley was born in Darke County, Ohio and as a child, she supported her family by shooting small game. With Frank Butler, her husband and manager, she toured with melodrama and vaudeville companies and with Sells Brothers Circus before joining Buffalo Bill. At Queen Victoria's Jubilee in 1887, Oakley became a favorite of royalty and left the show to tour European capitals. She appeared briefly in other Wild West shows and on the stage.
