Lucian, a Greek satirist of the second century A.D.His ridicule of the gods of mythology and of the Christian religion won him the nickname of “the Blasphemer.”Among his writings that have been preserved are his dialogues, notably Dialogues of the Deadand Dialogues of the Gods.He also wrote poems, romances, critical works, and biographies. His True Historyis a parody of travel stories. Lucian was born in Syria.
