Romulus Augustulus
Romulus Augustulus (461?-?), the last emperor of ancient Rome in the West. His father, Orestes, drove the Emperor Julian Nepos from the throne in 475 and made Romulus emperor. In 476 the German mercenaries of the Roman army demanded land allotments. Orestes refused, and was overthrown and killed by Odoacer, the mercenary leader. Romulus, then about 15, was deposed. The name Augustulus was a derisive nickname for Augustus.
