Geography of Prato
Prato, Italy, a city in Firenze Province. It is on the Bisenzio River, 11 miles (18 km) northwest of Florence. Prato produces wool and other textiles, machinery, chemicals, and leather goods. Historic buildings include a 13th-century cathedral and town hall, a 14th-century palace, and a 15th-century church. Prato was an independent commune in the early Middle Ages. It fell under the control of Florence in the 14th century.
