The Mozambique Channel
Mozambique Channel, a strait in the Indian Ocean off southeastern Africa, between Mozambique and Madagascar island. The channel is 1,000 miles (1,600 km) long and from 255 to 630 miles (410 to 1,000 km) wide. At its northern end are the Comoro Islands. The warm Mozambique Current flows south westward through the strait. Ports include Beira and Majunga.
