White
White, the color of a substance that reflects all the colors of sunlight. It can also be produced by a mixture, in equal proportions, of the optical primaries because these colors (violet-blue, green, and orange-red) can be combined to produce all other colors. True white exists only in theory, since all substances absorb at least some wavelengths of light.
White symbolizes purity and innocence. In some Oriental countries it signifies death and mourning. A white flag is a flag of truce. A white feather signifies cowardice because of a belief that a fighting cock with a white feather in its tail is not game. A white lie is a lie told for a good purpose.
