Broccoli, a vegetable. It is a variety of cabbage and is closely related to cauliflower. Broccoli is an excellent source of vitamin A and a good source of vitamin C and calcium. The green, unopened flower head and stalk are eaten and are typically prepared by boiling or steaming. The plant grows about two feet (60 cm) high. It requires a cool climate, much moisture, and a long growing period.
