Sainfoin, a perennial herb native to the temperate regions of Europe and Asia. It is also called holy clover. The sainfoin grows to a height of about two feet (60 cm). It has many oval leaflets and small pale pink or white flowers. Sainfoin is used primarily for forage. It is grown for this purpose in parts of the United States.

The sainfoin is Onobrychis viciaefoiia of the pea family, Leguminosae.
