Rape, in botany, an annual plant that is grown as a forage crop and for the oil obtainable from its seeds. Rape grows to more than three feet (90 cm) tall and bears leaves up to one foot (30 cm) long and six inches (15 cm) wide.

Rapeseed oil, the refined oil from rape seeds, is used as a cooking oil and in food products. It is also called colza oil or canola oil. Of all edible oils, it is lowest in saturated fat; it is also high in monounsaturated fat. Partially refined oil is used in lamps, as a lubricant, and to oil wool and temper steel.

Rape is Brassica napus of the mustard family, Cruciferae.

Rape seeds are refined to make canola oil.
