Snowball
Snowball, a name applied to any of several cultivated ornamental shrubs that bear ball-shaped clusters of white flowers. One variety of snowball is also known as the guelder rose. It is believed to have originated in Guelderland, a province of the Netherlands. This shrub grows to about 12 feet (3.7 m) in height and has lobed, tooth-edged leaves. Its showy flower clusters bloom in May and June. The flowers are sterile and do not bear seeds or fruit. For this reason new plants must be grown from cuttings.
The guelder rose is Viburnum opulus of the honeysuckle family, Caprifoliaceae.
