Edwin Way Teale
Teale, Edwin Way (1899–1980), a United States naturalist and author. His nature books, illustrated with his photographs, combine scientific accuracy with poetic expression. Wandering Through Winter (1965), the last of his four “American Seasons” books, was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1966. Teale was born in Joliet, Illinois. He graduated from Earlham College in 1922 and received a master's degree from Columbia University in 1927.
His other books include: Grassroot Jungles (1937); The Golden Throng (1940); The Lost Woods (1945); North with the Spring (1951); Autumn Across America (1956); Journey Into Summer (1960); Springtime in Britain (1970); A Walk through the Year (1978).
