Izaak Walton League of America, an organization dedicated to preserving the nation's natural outdoor recreational resources. The league seeks to prevent water pollution and soil erosion; protect forests; defend public lands against commercial exploitation; protect fish and wildlife; and encourage conservation education. The league publishes Outdoor America, a quarterly. The Izaak Walton League was founded in 1922 and named for the 17th-century nature writer. Membership is about 50,000. Headquarters are in Arlington, Virginia.
