Fauna
Fauna, the animal life of a given region, or the animal life of a certain geological period. Fauna is distinguished from flora, which is the plant life of a region or period. Together, the flora and fauna make up the biota of a region or period. A work describing the animal life of a region or period is called a “fauna.”
