Camillo Golgi
Golgi, Camillo (1844–1926), an Italian physician and anatomist. Golgi found that he could observe nerve tissue in detail by using silver nitrate as a stain. He discovered Golgi bodies, structures contained within the cytoplasm of cells. He also discovered three new species of malarial parasites. Golgi shared the 1906 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine for his studies of the structure of nerve tissues.
