PREPARATION:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease cookie sheets. Place sugar in shallow bowl.
- Beat cake mix, water, butter, egg and lemon peel in large bowl with electric mixer at low speed until well blended. Beat in fruit bits just until blended.
- Shape dough by heaping tablespoons into balls; roll in sugar to coat. Place 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets.
- Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until set. Let cookies stand on cookie sheets 2 minutes.; transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
