Craft a Father's Day Tie Rack

Help dad keep his ties organized with a handmade tie rack.

Materials:

  • Bakeable modeling clay (such as the products made by Sculpey)
  • Tie tack (found in craft stores in the beading section)
  • Craft glue
Instructions:

Kids can create a whole new collection of tie tacks for dad using modeling clay. Keep in mind that each one you craft should be about one inch in diameter. (Parents: You might want to create an approximate template for this project so that the clay creation won't be too heavy once it is glued to the metal backing.)

How you get creative is up to you! Try etching some 2-D designs into the clay, such as geometric patterns or dad's initials. Or try some 3-D ideas like golf balls, globes or other miniature versions of things dad likes.

Put all the small clay creations in the oven for just a few minutes (per the instructions that came with the clay) and allow to cool.

Final step: glue a decoration onto each tie tack and you're good to go!
