Craft a Father's Day Paper Weight
What dad's desk is complete without a paper weight? Try this one out for a Father's Day gift that's sure to be as handy as it is handmade.
Materials:
- Flour
- Salt
- Water
- Food coloring and glitter (optional)
- Cookie sheet
- Cookie cutter (optional)
- Toothpicks
Mix together the flour, salt and water. For one paperweight, 2 cups flour, 1 cup salt and 3/4 cup of water works well. Food coloring and glitter can be added into the mix, then all the ingredients should be kneaded together until you have a nice doughy ball.
Then put the ball onto a cookie sheet. You can leave it round, squash it into a pancake or use a cookie cutter to give it some shape. Kids can also make a handprint or firmly press pebbles, sea shells and other small objects into the dough. For a nice added touch, write your name and the year into the bottom with a toothpick so dad can remember when he received the gift. Finally, have a parent help you cook your craft in the oven until it's completely dry, and let it cool.
