Meet Dr. Barbour

A cardiologist, Dr. Deborah Joanne Barbour practices medicine in Washington, D.C, and Maryland. She received her medical degree from the University of Southern California and completed her internship in internal medicine at the L.A. County-USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, Calif. Dr. Barbour spent her residency at Wadsworth VA Hospital, also located in Los Angeles, Calif.

Dr. Barbour has held several faculty positions, including fellowships in cardiology at Georgetown University, critical care medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and associate professor of medicine at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine.

Her professional experience ranges from assistant director, Los Angeles County Regional Health Department; assistant director of cardiac pathology, National Institutes of Health; and director of coronary care, Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore, Md.

Dr. Barbour's professional activities and educational outreach include manuscript reviewer for the American Journal of Cardiology, guest doctor for women's health segments on WJHU National Public Radio's "All Things Considered" and WEAA Morgan State Radio's "Heart Disease in the African-American Woman."
