Industrial College of the Armed Forces

Industrial College of the Armed Forces, a top-level United States military school. It is a component of the National Defense University. The college prepares officers of all services for important command, staff, and planning assignments. Selected civilians holding high positions in the federal government may also attend. Students learn how the nation's economic resources are related to military needs in peace and war. The Industrial College, directed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C. The college provides a 10-month course of study. The college was established in 1946, succeeding the Army Industrial College (1924).
