Vichy

Vichy, France, a commune (town) in the department of Allier. It is in central France, 200 miles (320 km) south-southeast of Paris. Vichy's alkaline springs make it one of Europe's leading health resorts. The sale of bottled Vichy water is a major source of income.

After the fall of France to Germany in 1940 Marshal Henri Pétain made Vichy the capital of Unoccupied France and overseas French holdings.
