William Brewster

Brewster, William (1567?–1644), a leader of the Pilgrims who settled Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts in 1620. He was born in Scrooby, England. In 1608 he fled to Holland with a group of Puritans called Separatists. He printed Puritan books in Leiden. Brewster came to Massachusetts on the Mayflower. Until his death he was a leader in church and civic affairs.
