Procopius
Procopius, (499?–565? A.D.), a Byzantine historian. He is the main chronicler of the reign of Emperor Justinian (527–65). History of the Wars is his account of the military campaigns of Belisarius, a Byzantine general for whom Procopius was private secretary. It also relates events in Constantinople and describes the customs of barbarian tribes. Secret History, published after Procopius' death, is an attack on Justinian and his wife, Theodora.
