Camorra, formerly a secret criminal organization of Naples, Italy, similar to the Mafia of Sicily. It was active from about 1830 until 1912. The Camorristi, as members of the society were called, terrorized people by extortion, murder, and other crimes. The Camorra had short-lived offshoots in the United States around 1900.
