Wenceslaus, Saint (907?—935?), a ruler of Bohemia. He is also the patron saint of Bohemia. He is the hero of numerous legends and the subject of the English Christmas carol "Good King Wenceslaus." Influenced by his grandmother Ludmilla, Wenceslaus was a devout Christian, known especially for his kindness and charity. He was murdered by his brother Boleslav, leader of a group that opposed Christianity and Wenceslaus's friendly policy toward the neighboring Germans. The feast day of St. Wenceslaus is September 28.
