Epimenides
Epimenides a Cretan philosopher, poet, and prophet of the seventh century B.C. According to Pliny, he fell asleep in a cave when a youth. He awakened 57 years later to find he had acquired a large store of knowledge as he slept. Solon is said to have called Epimenides to Athens to combat a plague there.
