Geography of Godthab
Godthåb, or, Greenland, the capital of Greenland. It lies on the southwestern coast about 380 miles (612 km) east of Baffin Island. Godthåb is a fishing center as well as the seat of Greenland's government. A teachers college is here. Godthåb was founded in 1721 by the missionary Hans Egede; it was the first Danish settlement in Greenland.
