Geography of New Westminster

New Westminster, Canada, a city in British Columbia. It is on the Fraser River two miles (3 km) from its mouth, and nine miles (14 km) east-southeast of Vancouver, New Westminster is a processing center. Lumber, pulp and paper, and canned salmon are chief products, followed by processed meat, fruits, and vegetables. The city is also a shipping center for both coastal and ocean trade. New Westminster was founded in 1859. It was the colonial capital until 1868.
