Monte Rosa

Rosa, Monte, a massive mountain in the Pennine Alps, on the border between Switzerland and Italy. The highest of its several summits, the Dufourspitze, rises 15,203 feet (4,634 m) above sea level. It lies entirely within Switzerland. In elevation, it is second only to Mont Blanc among the peaks of the Alps. A number of glaciers descend the flanks of Monte Rosa. Nearby is the Matterhorn, one of the most famous peaks of the Alps.
