Geography of Iloilo City And Province
Iloilo, Republic of the Philippines, the capital of Iloilo Province. It is on the island of Panay, about 280 miles (450 km) south-southeast of Manila. Iloilo is one of the busiest Philippine ports. Sugar is the leading export. Rice and hemp also are exported. Manufactured goods include hand-woven textiles, coconut oil, wood products, lime, and vinegar. Iloilo was burned in 1899 by Filipino insurgents who opposed United States occupation, but was soon rebuilt.
