Geography of Ulan Bator

Ulan Bator, or Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. It lies on the Tuul River, about 730 miles (1,175 km) northwest of Beijing, China. Located here are the Mongolian State University, the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, and several museums. The Great Hural (Mongolian legislature) and many government offices are located around Sukebator Square, in the heart of the city. Ulan Bator was founded in 1639.
