1967-1968 Chrysler 300 2D Hardtop & Convertible
The 1967-1968 Chrysler 300 2D Hardtop and Convertible were continuations of the non-letter 300 series, with new styling (also applied to linemates) on the basic 1965-66 platform (wheelbase and overall length were unchanged). All '67-'68 Chryslers sported sharpened lines and concave bodysides, but 300s still stood apart with the traditional "cross-hair" grille motif and, for '68, hidden headlamps.Chrysler Cars Image Gallery

1967 Chrysler 300 hardtop coupe.
Two-door hardtops used the wide-quarter "fast-top" treatment seen on Dodge/Plymouth counterparts. Power switched to the new corporate 440 big-block V-8 introduced on '66 New Yorkers and Imperials. These engines packed 350 standard horsepower, 375 with the "TNT" performance option, and were sold exclusively with TorqueFlite automatic.
Sales for the 1967-1968 Chrysler 300 2D Hardtop and Convertible remained good, though not great, as buyers were turning in droves from sporty full-sizers to midsize "muscle cars." The companion 300 hardtop sedan, base-line Newport convertible, and Newport/Newport Custom hardtop coupes may also be collected one day, but the two-door 300s look like far better investments, though they'll probably never be blue chips.
Pluses of the 1967-1968 Chrysler 300 2D Hardtop & Convertible:
- Effortless big-block power
- TorqueFlite still peerless
- Big and roomy, yet a touch sporty
- Few convertibles built (again)
- Relatively cheap
Minuses of the 1967-1968 Chrysler 300 2D Hardtop & Convertible:
- Next to no interest yet
- Styling more contrived than 1965-66
