Thus, the 1958 Ford Thunderbird convertible arrived riding a 12-inch-longer 113-inch wheelbase that allowed for a cozy rear seat, plus an extra 800-900 pounds of road-hugging weight.
But like the 1955-1957 'Birds, the all-new 1958 was low-slung and every bit as stylish, as the 1958 convertible pictured here ably demonstrates.
