Skua, a seabird of Arctic and Antarctic regions. The skua (also called great skua)is nearly two feet (60 cm) long. It has dark-brown plumage, a hooked bill, and strong, sharply taloned feet.

The skua preys upon the eggs and the young of other seabirds. It also eats fish and will either catch the fish itself or steal it from another bird. The skua comes on land only to breed. A hollow in the ground serves as a nest. Usually two spotted, grayish-brown eggs are laid.

The skua is Catharacta skua of the family Laridae.
