ANEGADA GROUND IGUANA (Cyclura pinguis)
Description: Iguanas are among the world's most colorful animals. Some are bright green; some, golden yellow; and some, a rainbow of colors. While the body of the Anegada ground iguana is a dusky brown, its legs, dorsal spines and tail are sprinkled with an iridescent turquoise blue. This iguana species was once common across the islands of the Puerto Rican Bank, but is currently confined to the island of Anegada in the British Virgin Islands. The major threat to this species is predation by cats and dogs.
