Perseus, a constellation in the Northern Hemisphere that can be easily seen in the early evening during autumn and winter. It is west of Cassiopeia and north of Taurus. Perseus is one of the constellations recognized by the ancient Greeks. It contains the eclipsing binary star Algol. Perseus lies in the main path of the Milky Way. On about August 12, a meteor shower called the Perseids can be seen coming from the direction of Perseus.
