White Lead
White Lead, a substance formerly in wide use as a paint pigment. Because white lead is poisonous—as are all lead compounds—its use in paints is now severely restricted. In the United States, interior paints must be lead-free, and exterior finishes are permitted to contain only a very small amount of white lead. White lead is one of the oldest pigments known.
Formula: 2PbCO3 Pb(OH)2.
