Squadron
Squadron, a military unit of varying size. In the United States forces, a naval air squadron or air force squadron varies in size from 6 to 40 aircraft, depending on the type used. A cavalry squadron in the army is a battalion-size reconnaissance unit of ground vehicles and aircraft. In the horse cavalry of the late 1800's, a squadron was a unit equivalent to an infantry battalion; three squadrons made up a regiment.
