Madroña,an ornamental evergreen tree or shrub of the North American Pacific Coast. The madroña is usually of medium height, but may reach 100 feet (30 m). Its scaly bark is reddish brown. The tree has oval, shining leaves about four inches (10 cm) long. Long clusters of small, white flowers are followed by small, edible, orange-red fruits. Madroña wood is used chiefly for fuel.

The madroña is Arbutus menziesii of the heath family, Ericaceae.
