Coltsfoot
Coltsfoot, a weed of the composite family found in Europe and Asia. Its leaves were once commonly used in cough medicines. Coltsfoot is planted on dry banks to hold the soil. It reaches a height of 18 inches (46 cm). The leaves grow at the base of the stem and are heart-shaped, woolly on the underside. The flower heads are bright yellow. They are up to three-quarters of an inch (2 cm) wide.
Coltsfoot is Tussilago farfara of the family Compositae.
