Weber, Wilhelm Eduard

Weber, Wilhelm Eduard (1804-1891), a German physicist. With his friend the physicist Karl Friedrich Gauss, he did valuable work in electricity and magnetism, and invented an electromagnetic telegraph (1833). The weber, a unit of magnetic flux, is named after him. Weber taught for many years at the University of Göttingen.
