Lycanthropy, a delusion in which a person imagines he or she is a wolf or other meat-eating animal. Such a person is called a lycanthrope, from the Greek for “wolf-man.” In folklore, the term lycanthropy is applied to the act of becoming a wolf through witchcraft or magic.
