1970 Dodge Coronet R/T 440: A Classic Muscle Car Overview

New front-end styling was the big story for the ’70 R/T. The grille was split in two, the rear flanks gained nonfunctional scoops, and the taillamps were revised.

The 1970 Dodge Coronet R/T 440 featured a new grille
and decorative side scoops.

Standard equipment included the 440 Magnum, again with 375 horsepower, but compression was down to 9.70:1. R/T sales fell to a paltry 2615, and, just 13 came equipped with the optional Hemi.

In retrospect, the 1967-70 Coronet R/Ts balanced luxury appointments with the brute performance of Chrysler’s RB-Block 440 Wedge or 426 Hemi. A cut above the Super Bee, they offered more creature comforts for less than the cost of a Charger.
