Deer Mouse
Deer Mouse, or White-footed Mouse, the common names for about 55 species of mice that live throughout North America. Deer mice are usually brownish or grayish above with white feet and underparts. They are three to six inches (7.5 to 15 cm) long, not including a long tail. Their ears are rather large in relation to the rest of the body. Deer mice are active at night and are very agile (hence the name deer mouse). They eat seeds, fruit, and insects. Deer mice are used as laboratory animals because they are clean, have a high reproductive rate, and live well in captivity.
Deer mice make up the genus Peromyscus of the family Cricetidae.
