Goldsmith Beetle, a large, golden-yellow beetle found in the eastern United States. The beetle has a whitish, hairy coating on its underside. It hides among leaves during the day, emerging at night to feed on the foliage of willow and poplar trees. The eggs are laid singly in the soil, where the larvae live for about three years.

The goldsmith beetle is Cotalpa lanigera of the family Scarabaeidae.
