American Ornithologists` Union
American Ornithologists' Union, a society of ornithologists and amateur students of birds. Publications include a checklist of North American birds, monographs on birds of the Americas, and The Auk, a quarterly. The society was founded in 1883. There are about 5,000 members. Headquarters are in Washington, D.C.
